6/21 (Zoom) 12:00 PM - AFSC Weekly Action 1/2 Hour: Updates from Gaza & Calling Congress (AFSC)

Fridays @ 12:00 PM EDT

Join us for AFSC’s weekly Action Hour for a Cease-fire Now. Every Friday, we’ll get the latest updates from AFSC staff in Gaza and take action to end the violence. Together, we'll make calls to the White House and Congress, write letters, and talk about how to use our collective voice to call for peace.

For the months of June, July, and August we are on summer hours! First Fridays (July 5th and August 2nd) will be one hour with guests. All other Fridays will be 30 minutes with time for updates from Gaza, calling Congress, and event announcements.

A message from AFSC 6/17: “Before you join us this Friday, please take a moment to download our Eid Zoom Background. We would like to wish our staff in Gaza Eid Mubarak and will be taking a photo on Friday. You can either download the PDF version in the “Resources” section and screenshot the image to add it to Zoom, or right click the image to “save as” to add it directly to your Zoom. See instructions from Zoom on how to upload a virtual background. Eid Mubarak to all who are celebrating!

Updates from Gaza

Last Friday, Yousef was not able to join us. Noor shared an update in his stead, including the devastating news that Yousef’s sister and her husband were killed by Israeli special forces in Nuseirat refugee camp. Please hold Yousef’s family in the light.

The Nuseirat massacre and the intensive airstrikes that accompanied it have sent out waves of shock and fear amongst Palestinians who continue to ask the question: “Where do we go?” The official number of Palestinians killed in Israeli bombings or ground invasions has surpassed 37,000, but more than 10,000 have either been reported missing or are thought to be under the rubble.

Yesterday was Father’s Day, and on Friday we shared the story of a Palestinian father in Gaza whose two daughters were killed in an Israeli airstrike. You can read his story and the stories of other Palestinians in Gaza who have been forcibly displaced as part of our new series Displaced in Gaza.”
