Severed: Virtual screening and discussion with filmmakers
Defense for Children International - Palestine is hosting a special virtual screening of @donkeysaddleorg's new film, Severed, followed by a discussion with the filmmakers on July 9.
The short film features Mohamad Salah, now 18 years old, navigating his new life in Egypt after escaping genocide in Gaza. When he was 12, Israeli snipers shot Mohamad in the leg during the Great March of Return protests, and after several years of failed medical interventions, doctors amputated his leg. After he was shot, DCIP introduced Mohamad to Donkeysaddle Projects, which produced a short film in 2019 about Mohamad's injury and challenges navigating the complex web of permits required for Palestinians to seek medical care outside of Gaza.
The filmmakers will join for a discussion following the screening of the 27-minute film.
