WHY PALESTINE IS A TRADE UNION ISSUE: BUILDING SOLIDARITY WITH GAZA

Millions of people around the globe continue to protest against the genocide talking place in Gaza. The global movement is having an impact. The pressure on governments to call a ceasefire continues to grow as the conflict threatens to escalate into a wider regional war. On Wednesday evening, we're bringing together representatives from across the UK to discuss how trade unionists can continue to deliver effective solidarity to the Palestinian people.

We will also be joined by Susan Abdul Salaam from the New Union of Jerusalem. She is a feminist community activist in Jerusalem, a social worker by profession and the President of the Palestinian National Unions. It's an honour to have her join us and hear directly from Palestine what trade unionists there require from us in this extreme hour of need.

Other speakers include: Daniel Kebede, NEU General Secretary; Andrea Bradley, EIS General Secretary; Eddie Dempsey, RMT Assistant General Secretary; Jess Porter, CWU members for Palestine; Dr Omar Abdel-Mennan, Gaza Medic Voices; Dr Ayo Kahalil, Health Workers for a Free Gaza; Jamie Newell, FBU EC; Frances Leach, Unite EC; Sean Vernell, UCU NEC and Lindsey German, StWC Convenor.

At the end of the meeting there will be break-out sessions to discuss how best we can organize in each specific union. This is an important opportunity to get organized ahead of the TU conferences that are fast approaching.
