Join us to oppose the pro-Israel war rally!
Thursday, August 7, 2014
City Hall Plaza, One City Hall Square, Boston
(Nearest T: State Street)
Event begins 5:30 p.m.
There will be a silent vigil to counter the “Rally in Solidarity with Israel.” The war rally, sponsored by more than two dozen Jewish organizations, is a call to “stand up for Israel’s right to self defense.”
We will gather at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Washington St. and State St. on a small plaza/corridor between Staples and the Citizens Bank building. This corridor leads directly to City Hall plaza. Closest T stops are Downtown crossing/State St./Park St.
The purpose of this counter-rally is not to change the minds of, or engage with, the pro-Israel attendees, but to publicly take a strong moral stance and discredit their claim to speak for Jews. Our goal is to silently demonstrate our sorrow and anger about the massacre of Palestinians, to oppose Israel’s human rights violations, and to condemn U.S. complicity with the Israeli war machine. We ask the Boston Jewish community to join with the rest of the world in calling for a negotiated ceasefire that ends the blockade and siege of Gaza.
We hope to maintain strict silence and ask that you respect this strategic plan. Black armbands will be distributed as well as signs and posters condemning Israeli war mongering.
