Doctors Against Genocide Weekly Update: Collective Responsibility to End Genocide

Please join this urgent webinar!

 Register to attend here.

Genocide is a medical and societal emergency. Doctors and healthcare workers bear witness to the destruction of hospitals, the starvation of children, and the targeting of colleagues. But ending genocide cannot rest on medicine alone. It requires a collective rising of all sectors of society: law, media, education, human rights, faith, and beyond.

At this webinar, we will hear from:

  • Frontline clinicians working under siege conditions.

  • Humanitarian voices from Sudan, South Africa, and Egypt.

  • Advocates and scholars challenging global institutions that enable atrocity.

Together, we will reflect, strategize, and mobilize for action that goes beyond the clinic because genocide is a shared crisis that demands shared responsibility.

We are pleased to welcome these powerful voices to this week's webinar:

  • Dr. Naledi Pandor is a South African politician and seasoned diplomat who has taken a leading global role in challenging injustice and upholding international law. From 2019 to 2024, she served as South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, during which she spearheaded South Africa’s legal case at the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza.

  • Mother Agabia Stephanopoulos, an American Greek Orthodox nun who has lived and served in the Holy Land since 1996. Deeply rooted in her faith and pastoral mission. Through decades of service, Mother Agapia has offered a unique perspective on the challenges facing one of the world’s oldest Christian populations. She has spoken movingly about the daily realities of Palestinian Christians and the profound impact of land confiscation, displacement, and siege. Her testimony reminds us that what is unfolding in Palestine is not a matter of religious conflict, but of systemic injustice.

  • Dr. Miriam Komaromy, a physician board-certified in Internal and Addiction Medicine, has long led efforts to expand addiction treatment and shape the national dialogue on substance use. She extends that commitment to justice by beginning a hunger strike in solidarity with Gaza, underscoring the physician’s duty not only to heal but to confront the conditions driving mass suffering and death.

  • Maysa Hawwash, MHRM, is the Executive Director of Strategy and Global Partnerships at Doctors Against Genocide (DAG), where she leads organizational development, global strategy, and international partnerships. Drawing on her expertise in human resources and leadership, she strengthens DAG’s capacity to mobilize healthcare professionals, amplify frontline testimony, and build networks that advance genocide prevention and humanitarian action.

Maysa is the Founder and CEO of ScaleX, an HR management and organizational development firm.

URGENT CALL TO ACTION
Dismantle the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation: Aid Must Not Be a Tool of Genocide

What’s unfolding in Gaza is state-engineered violence disguised as aid.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), backed by the U.S. and Israel, has turned food distribution into a death trap. Civilians are being shot while trying to collect survival rations in fenced, militarized zones. Over 500 killed and thousands wounded since May.

This is genocide by starvation and trauma and the U.S. just committed $30 million to fund it.

Doctors are sounding the alarm. This is cruel and collective punishment.
