This week’s Doctors Against Genocide webinar brings together frontline physicians and health professionals confronting genocide and repression across Palestine, Gaza, and Congo.

Genocide thrives on impunity—when perpetrators face no consequence, the machinery of extermination breathes freely. But the restoration of human rights, justice, is the antidote. Healing cannot begin while hospitals are bombed, healthcare workers are targeted, and civilians are starved.

Our speakers this week embody that truth through their work on the ground:

  • Nada Abu Al Rub – Australian physician bearing witness to the systematic targeting of civilians and medical personnel in Palestine.

  • Dr. Ben Thompson – Canadian physician currently in Gaza, reporting on the catastrophic collapse of medical infrastructure and the moral imperative to protect healthcare under fire.

  • Dr. Fadel Naim – Acting Director of Ahli Arab Hospital (Baptist Hospital), Gaza City, one of the last functioning hospitals in northern Gaza, describing survival and medical care amid genocide.

  • Philippe Batezi – General Manager of Centre Médical Afia Yetu in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, working to save lives—especially those of pregnant women and children—amid decades of war.

  • Asfia Qadir – Speaking on the global repression of healthcare workers and the silencing of medical advocacy in systems built on occupation, genocide and apartheid.

Together, they illuminate how the deliberate dismantling of health is both a method and a measure of genocide and how the defense of life, dignity, and human rights remains medicine’s most essential duty.

We hope we will have Live Updates from Palestine and Congo

  • Dr. Ahmad Al Farra: Head of Pediatric Department in Khan Younis-Gaza

  • Mohammed Saqer, Director of Nursing at Nasser Medical Complex

  • Dr. Mohammed Abu-Selmieh: Medical Director of Al-Shifa Hospital

  • Ezz Lulu: Medical Student and founder of Samir Foundation

  • Mr Eyad Amawi, A Journalist and Gaza Middle Area Community Humanitarian

  • Dr. Salgawy: Orthopedic Resident

  • Munther Abu-Rabe: Healthcare volunteer

  • Hadija and Elvis Katato: Our colleagues from Congo
