WE REFUSE: A Dialogue Between an Israeli Refuser & an American Conscientious Objector

Atalya Ben-Abba refused mandatory Israeli military service. Diana Oestreich became a conscientious objector after serving in Iraq. Atalya and Diana will share their personal journeys of refusal to participate in war, then join in conversation on the function of militarism in Israeli and American society, the cyclical relationship between oppression and war, and the role of personal choice in resisting that cycle. This conversation is meant to mobilize us in a time of escalating genocide in Gaza and far-right control of both the American and Israeli governments. The program will conclude with a moderated Q&A, and opportunities to connect for further learning and action.
