Behind the Scenes at Rebuilding Alliance, Webinar Episode 2 - 'Emergency Vegetable Delivery to PKU Patients'
From Rebuilding Alliance (Webinar info below): “A small miracle: Rebuilding Alliance's teams delivered fresh tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, mulukhiyah, squash, and spinach to 182 children and adults with Phenylketonuria (PKU) in northern Gaza, Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Deir Al Balah. This is the fifth round of fresh fruit and veggies to help keep these fragile patients as healthy as possible — we need your prayers to help get their medical food through the border to them and we need your financial support to pay the 18K bill for this delivery and 18K for the next one, two weeks from now.” Give Now - All donations of up to $10,000 are being matched by Eng. Hani Safai
Tomorrow, Tuesday July 8th, please us for an inspiring conversation with our Gaza team to learn how this small miracle is being made possible:
Behind the Scenes at Rebuilding Alliance, Webinar Episode 2
'Emergency Vegetable Delivery to PKU Patients'
Thursday, July 8th, 2025
11:00 AM ET / 9am CT / 8am PT
Joining us for this important session are the following members of RA's team:
Adv. Nejmah Haddad, Host, Country Representative and General Counsel
Mr. Rafeek, Gaza Program Manager
Dr. Hamouda, PKU Program Lead and Nutritionist
Ms. Nour, Filmmaker
Adam Ramadan, Deputy Director
Here's how we did it: Our team sourced fresh vegetables and fruits from a trusted supplier buying from the local markets. We bought daily with prices slightly different each day. We purchased these items on credit to prepare nutritious fruit and vegetable parcels for children and adults with PKU, a genetic disorder that requires both a strict low-protein diet and also specially formulated medical food to prevent permanent brain damage.
Your donation right now ensures we keep nutritious, low-protein fruit and veggies flowing. Meanwhile a donor in New Jersey has purchased Mead Johnson Medical food and we are working through all the Logistics Cluster, WHO, and Ministry of Health connections to airfreight it in, and secure permission for entry to Gaza — and to the West Bank where all the medical food is no longer available.
PKU Program Lead and Nutritionist, Dr. Hamouda shared the following, “When families were asked about the health benefits of these packages, most said they noticed a real improvement in their patient’s condition. However, when the support stopped for a long time, complications returned.” Dr. Hamouda is supervising this program from his hospital bed in Gaza City as he awaits another surgery for the shrapnel injury he suffered a month ago. His efforts and other team members are truly heroic.
Please join use tomorrow for the webinar. I look forward to seeing you!
