Lift the Children, Feed the People: A Solidarity Fundraiser and Gathering
One way of resisting the cruelty and chaos of the genocide in Gaza is to gather, attempt to process what’s happening, and raise a boatload of money to send to The Center for Freedom and Justice, a Palestinian non-profit that is coordinating food convoys into Gaza. Please join your neighbors, friends, and partners at Novel for an evening of expression, reflection, and activism, featuring short readings by writers and community leaders, as well as a number of raffles. Our goal is simple: to raise as much money as we can to send to the people who need it most.
There will be music, art, books, and donated items for raffle from your favorite Maine vendors (Paper Tiger, Bread and Friends, Waterstruck, Washington Baths, original art by James Foley and Jamie Hogan, and much more!) —all in support of humanitarian relief for Gaza. It will be a space for grief, for action, for love, and for hope. Spoken words by Lily King, Zahir Janmohamed, Karen Ortiz, Rebecca Turkewitz, Chelsea Conaboy, Onnesha Roychoudhuri, Arisa White and more!
Please come if you can. Please give if you can. And if you can’t do either, please help us spread the word.
Because silence isn’t neutrality. And small acts, when joined together, can become lifelines.
We all do better when we all do better.
