7/31 (Zoom & in person, DC) 6:30pm - DMV Digital Security Training (No Tech for Apartheid)

💻 DMV DIGITAL SECURITY TRAINING 💻
When: Thursday, July 31 6:30-8pm
Where: MLK Jr. Memorial Library Room 401-D
Online option: Meeting Registration - Zoom

Join the #NoTechForApartheid Digital Security Network to learn the tools and practices that keep our digital spaces and each other safer. With the current political landscape and increased targeting of dissent, we must be aware of the threats and how to protect ourselves against them so we can continue the fight for liberation.

This training is for people of *all* backgrounds, with an emphasis on how to keep our movements safe. We’ll cover tips and tools to protect your accounts, data, and communications. We’ll explain how @Google & @Amazon’s Project Nimbus contract with the Israeli military powers the surveillance technology used on Palestinians, which is then exported across the world to surveil our own communities and criminalize dissent.

This training is also an opportunity for tech workers to meet DMV-area No Tech For Apartheid organizers. Learn how we can use our labor power to end tech partnerships that power occupation, genocide, and colonialism.

Masks are strongly recommended (will have extras)! Physical space is limited, so please arrive at 6:30!

ASL interpreters may be available by request (DM us!)
