BILINGUAL EVENT # 20

The 20th Persian-English live peace-building U.S. - Iran "town hall" gathering, organized by Peace-seeking Iranian Veterans (PIV) >>> https://piv-kas.blogspot.com/

TOPICS: Support the Ceasefire / NO  IRAN  WAR!  // This gathering will benefit from the rich scholarship and experiences of our guest speaker about the indigenously nonviolent Andean civilizations (and "decolonization" struggles) in Latin America, focused on Peru; And we also will talk about the latest FRAGILE "ceasefire" developments, in the unfolding Mid-East/Persian Gulf Israeli and U.S. actions and policies--also covering the extremely fragile (currently stalled) U.S. - Iran nuclear talks.

Guest Speaker: Indigenous Peruvian Scholar and Peace-activist Prof. Cristina "Nina" Herencia

Ph.D., Interdisciplinary Andean Indian Studies, Inst. of Latin American Studies, U. of Texas (Austin); A Peruvian Social Psychology and Interdisciplinary social sciences Professor and Senior Consultant, focusing on social problems from an Indigenous Peoples’ perspective; has taught for over 2 decades in various universities in Peru, including the National University of San Marcos; Has made significant contributions to bilingual education, social/political psychology, and Andean identity and gender systems; Her extensive socio-anthropological research for UNESCO, FAO and the Swiss Technical Cooperation project included the early childhood socialization practices in indigenous communities; Has been an observer in 9 consecutive annual meetings of the UN Permanent Forum of Indigenous Issues (2006-13), her historical research being the gender dimensions of the Tupac Amaru II rebellion (1780-85), and her deep awareness of the long-term effects of Spain’s officially decreed colonial program to eradicate indigenous languages and cultures after the rebellion has led to her strong commitment to restore the historical memory and the social and cultural identity of Andean Indian populations; Public pedagogy and cultural activism through public speaking and community engagement are her present concerns.

REGULAR HOST: Moji Agha (in Colorado, U.S.) -- Founder of the Peace-seeking Iranian Veterans (PIV); Bilingually translates the Persian-English live (every other Wednesday) peace-building gatherings (on Clubhouse App and Zoom) that are organized by the PIV.
