Persistent Advocacy in the Face of Disappointment
by Friends Committee on National Legislation
As a parent, I know the weight that comes with the word “disappointment.” I’m disappointed in Congress right now—and I bet you are, too.
I also know that I cannot just give up on my toddler and, like changing policy, parenting is a long-term journey. I know I’m not the only parent facing obstacles and that I can keep trying to be the best parent I can.
That’s how I’m thinking about my role as an advocate and organizer supporting people like you to engage Congress, a seemingly broken institution.
In that spirit, I hope you’ll join us July 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET for a network call, Persistent Advocacy in the Face of Disappointment. We will pair reflection with action, be in community together, and learn about the opportunities ahead to make a difference.
Effective advocacy takes a village. We must support each other to be engaged citizen advocates who refuse to give up.
During our July 22 call, we’ll discuss how to overcome setbacks with Congress through strategic advocacy tactics. We also hope you’ll share examples from your own experiences. We don’t have all the answers, but there is power in our community’s wisdom.
Click here to register and share any questions or advocacy tips that we may raise during the call.
I’m excited to see you and continue our advocacy journey together.
Sincerely,
Justin Hurdle, Advocacy Campaigns and Stakeholder Engagement Manager
P.S. If you cannot join us, register anyway to receive a recording.
