July 15. 2025 (Tue, 07/15/2025 - 2:00 PM): The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight will hold a hearing entitled, “How Leftist Nonprofit Networks Exploit Federal Tax Dollars to Advance a Radical Agenda.” This appears to be a follow-up to three letters sent by the Committee last week (covered in last week’s Round-Up). The hearing “will examine how left-wing organizations have exploited federal tax dollars to advance their radical causes. In particular, the hearing will focus on how federal grants from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Justice Department were leveraged by these organizations to fund causes fundamentally opposed to the national interests of Americans.” Witnesses will be: Scott Walter, President, Capital Research Center; Mike Gonzalez, The Heritage Foundation; and Tyler O’Neil, The Daily Signal.
July 15. 2025 (July 15, 2025 - 10:15 AM): The House Committee on Education and the Workforce will hold yet another witch trial/kangaroo court – sorry, I mean hearing – this one entitled, “Antisemitism in Higher Education: Examining the Role of Faculty, Funding, and Ideology.” Announced victims – sorry, I mean witnesses – (so far) are: Dr. Robert M. Groves, Interim President, Georgetown University; Dr. Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, Chancellor, The City University of New York; and Dr. Rich Lyons, Chancellor, University of California, Berkeley.
On 7/2/25, Chairman Walberg (R-MI) issued a reminder about the hearing, noting: ““We continue to see antisemitic hatred festering at schools across the country. While much of the discussion has focused on the devastating effects of antisemitism, this hearing will focus on the underlying factors instigating antisemitic upheaval and hatred on campus. Until these factors—such as foreign funding and antisemitic student and faculty groups—are addressed, antisemitism will persist on college campuses. Our Committee is building on its promise to protect Jewish students and faculty while many university leaders refuse to hold agitators of this bigotry, hatred, and discrimination accountable.”
House Committee on Education and Reform (GOP) 7/10/25: X-post – “Unions are promoting antisemitism. Instead of listening to dues-paying members, unions spout antisemitic propaganda and sideline workers with pro-Israel views. In many cases, workers are REQUIRED to fund these organizations that discriminate against them! The disease of antisemitism runs deep.” With link to Wall Street Journal article, How Labor Unions Feed Campus Antisemitism — Questions for Congress to ask the leaders of UC Berkeley and the City University of New York.
Stefanik (R-NY) 7/9/25: X-post – “I am preparing for the upcoming July 15th @EdWorkforceCmte Hearing on Antisemitism in Higher Education: Examining the Role of Faculty, Funding, and Ideology with the presidents of @Georgetown @Berkeley and look forward to holding them accountable for the rot of antisemitism permeating their campuses. Unfortunately, @ChancellorCUNY is for the 3rd time attempting to back out of testifying. @ChancellorCUNY, please confirm your attendance immediately with the other college presidents to testify – and I would be remiss if I did not remind you that Congressional Republicans have subpeona [sic] authority and have used it extensively in our higher education investigations.“
