7/10 (in person, Cambridge MA) 7pm - Film Showing: Dr. Strangelove (MAPA)

Thursday July 10th @ 7pm - 1991 Mass. Ave. Cambridge, MA

Film Showing: Dr. Strangelove

You’re invited for a showing of Dr. Strangelove: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb at Massachusetts Peace Action.

Directed by the legendary Stanley Kubrick, this 1964 satire of Cold War politics is perhaps the funniest movie ever made about the threat of nuclear annihilation. Starring Peter Sellers and George C. Scott, Dr. Strangelove received 4 Academy Award nominations and 7 BAFTA awards nominations. Famed film critic Roger Ebert described it as “arguably the best political satire of the century”.

A black comedy of epic proportions, Dr. Strangelove follows the stories of a nuclear commader gone mad, a president desperately trying to countermand his orders to launch World War III, and the crew of a B-52 Bomber airplane armed with live nuclear weapons.

Massachusetts Peace Action has always been committed to nuclear disarmament. With irony and humor, Dr. Strangelove illustrates the insanity of nuclear war. We hope that you’ll join us to enjoy a truly great film and to hear about ways to get involved in the movement to disarm the world’s most dangerous weapons.
