Where: Thomas Crane Public Library, 40 Washington Street, Quincy
We will be in the Community Room, bottom floor.
This film exposes how American media has helped to manufacture consent and provide cover for decades of US complicity in Israel's denial of Palestinian human rights and repeated war crimes and crimes against humanity. You can view the film trailer here.
Summary from IMDB: Israel's ongoing military occupation of Palestinian territory and repeated invasions of the Gaza strip have triggered a fierce backlash against Israeli policies virtually everywhere in the world - except the United States. The Occupation of the American Mind takes an eye-opening look at this critical exception, zeroing in on pro-Israel public relations efforts within the U.S.
Narrated by Roger Waters and featuring leading observers of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and U.S. media culture, the film explores how the Israeli government, the U.S. government, and the pro-Israel lobby have joined forces, often with very different motives, to shape American media coverage of the conflict in Israel's favor. From the U.S.-based public relations campaigns that emerged in the 1980s to today, the film provides a sweeping analysis of Israel's decades-long battle for the hearts, minds, and tax dollars of the American people in the face of widening international condemnation of its increasingly right-wing policies. Featuring Amira Hass, M.J. Rosenberg, Stephen M. Walt, Noam Chomsky, Rula Jebreal, Henry Siegman, Rashid Khalidi, Rami Khouri, Yousef Munayyer, Norman Finkelstein, Max Blumenthal, Phyllis Bennis, Norman Solomon, Mark Crispin Miller, Peter Hart and Sut Jhally.

PS. Extra information from an email from Quincy for Palestine Sat June 28 “We are excited for tomorrow’s screening of The Occupation of the American Mind, which will be at 1 pm tomorrow in the community room of the Thomas Crane Public Library in Quincy.
We have received info from social media that there may be Zionist protestors at the event. If they show up, please do not engage in any way. They may try to film people who they believe will attend the event – if you are concerned about being filmed, we advise to wear a mask.
We have trained marshals who will be there to protect us - please follow their instructions. Separately, the library has required police presence at the event to protect patrons, staff, and event attendees against harassment, as part of their policy.
Of course, anyone who does not feel safe should not attend. The film is free to view online and we can send you a link to view it (just send us a message at qforp@protonmail.com). We are of the belief that bullies should not intimidate our community and public library into censorship, so we are doing our best to ensure a safe and successful event. Free Palestine!
Sincerely,
Quincy for Palestine
