FASTING FOR GAZA CARAVAN

Day #38 of the 40-day fast for Gaza

(plus an option to continue to NYC for a rally and press conference Monday, June 30, outside the UN)

The caravan will begin in Ellsworth with a gathering in the parking lot of Ellsworth City Hall from 10:30am to 11:30am. It will end in Portland with a welcome gathering at the Deering Oaks bandstand from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.

The convoy will start in Eastport with pick-up locations along Route 1 in Ellsworth, Bucksport, Belfast, Camden, Damarscotta and Brunswick. The Caravan will end in Portland with a send-off rally for a Maine contingent of strikers and fasters who will continue southward to New York City. There strikers and fasters will be converging with the core group of fasters in front of the UN for a press conference marking the final day of the 40 Days and Escalate: Veterans & Allies Fast for Gaza on Monday, 30 June.

Pledge your participation below and let us know where you will plan to join the caravan. If you can’t join the caravan, you can be part of a standout cheering the group on in each of the pick up spots.

If you are joining by car please arrive early and be ready to go in your car when we are set to arrive at your town. Meeting points were chosen for convenience, so the caravan will stop to allow you to pull out and join the line.

These times are estimates, so we have designated people at each point to keep in communication with the caravan. If you plan on joining please fill out the form at Fasting for Gaza Caravan so we can get an idea of how many people to expect and connect passengers with seats in cars.

We have also included some tips for decorating your car and driving in the caravan. The most important consideration is safety, so be sure to take into account visibility during driving and durability of decorations. It is supposed to rain as well, so keep that in mind when thinking of decorations.
