A Stitch in Time: The Palestinian History Tapestry at Dar Al Hurriya
From June 26th until July 31st, the Palestine House of Freedom is hosting the @paltapestry collection from @palestinemuseum.us. The exhibit features 40 embroidery pieces designed and created by Palestinians based in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem, the occupied Naqab, and refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan. These tapestries serve as a source of income for Palestinians whose livelihoods are suppressed under Zionist occupation and legal and social barriers on employment for refugees in their host countries, while archiving Palestinian heritage and histories of and for generations past, present, and future.
The exhibit will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9pm and Sundays 3-6pm starting June 26th until July 31st. No registration or appointments are required; drop by whenever! We’ll also be selling books and select prints of featured tapestries, from which the proceeds will be donated to support the artists based in Gaza amidst the U.S.-Israeli genocide.
