June 25, 1:00 PM EDT - Online

Iran War Powers Action Hour

by National American Iranian Council (NIAC)

The current ceasefire is fragile, as history has shown that such agreements can be easily broken. More bombs aren’t going to deliver security for anyone, which is a key lesson from these last two awful weeks of war. Thankfully, Congress can stop this from happening again and must reassert its authority to prevent future unauthorized warfare on Iran. With a vote this week in the Senate that can prohibit the U.S. from engaging in further hostilities in Iran, it is important we keep up the momentum for peace.

Join us tomorrow at 1pm ET/10am PT for an “Action Hour” in support of the Kaine War Powers Resolution to prohibit war with Iran and stand up against blank checks for illegal, endless wars. We’ll make it easy for you to call your Senators and Representatives. Together, we can make sure Congress stands up for its authority and for the will of the American people.

Poll after poll shows the American people don’t want a war with Iran. When asked, majorities across the political spectrum say they want Congress to take back its power and for the U.S. to pursue diplomacy, not more violence. Iranian Americans, in particular, are deeply concerned about civil rights, the threat of war, and the need for diplomatic solutions.

This is a critical moment. If Congress doesn’t act now, we risk sliding into another endless war that helps no one. But if we speak up, we can demand a better path—one that puts peace and diplomacy first.

Thank you for being part of this movement.

With hope,

Etan Mabourakh, Organizing Manager, NIAC
