Join Independent Jewish Voices (IJV) for an urgent and in-depth webinar examining one of the most dangerous tools being used to silence Palestine solidarity in Canada: The Canadian Handbook on the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism.
Across North America, repressive tactics against pro-Palestine voices are escalating. From Trump-era fascism in the U.S. to Canadian politicians threatening anti-protest laws, the crackdown is intensifying. At the heart of this coordinated repression is the weaponization of the IHRA definition of antisemitism, a framework increasingly used to shield Israel from accountability for its ongoing violence, apartheid, and genocide.
Date: June 19 2025
Time: 3 PM PT | 6 PM ET
Location: Online (Zoom)
Join IJV to hear from activists and academics on why IHRA is a threat and how Canada’s handbook threatens freedom of expression.
Palestinian activist Dalia el Farra will share a vital perspective on the Handbook’s real-world impacts and its role in perpetuating anti-Palestinian racism. Legal scholar Joshua Sealy-Harrington, a leading voice on racial justice and academic freedom, will offer a critical legal analysis. Emmaia Gelman, Director of the Institute for the Critical Study of Zionism, will connect Canada’s crackdown to broader U.S. trends and tools of repression. Finally, IJV’s National Coordinator Corey Balsam will present key findings from Silenced in our Name and outline ways to take action.
