Understanding Antisemitism: A Training for All
by T'ruah
note: this event description presupposes that violence against zionists in response to the ongoing genocide in Gaza is inherently anti-Semitic, i.e. that the perpetrator of this violent act hates all Jews. Maybe he does… but maybe he doesn’t. Personally, I am going to try to tune in to see how they frame it. afp
The antisemitic hate crime that took place in Boulder, Colorado, reminds us of the harsh truth that antisemitism is a problem that affects all of us.
Many people — both Jews and non-Jews — feel they don't sufficiently understand antisemitism and aren't empowered to take action when they encounter it.
On Tuesday, June 17 from 12-1 PM ET, T’ruah will host Understanding Antisemitism: A Training for All.
In this training, we will work to create a shared vocabulary around antisemitism, provide clear examples of what is and what is not antisemitism — including in the context of Israel — and deepen knowledge about how antisemitism is linked with other forms of bigotry and discrimination. Participants will be equipped to engage in conversations about antisemitism with others in their lives, whether in their neighborhoods, at work, with friends and family, or online.
This program is made possible by a grant from NYC’s Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes and the Commission on Human Rights. Everyone is welcome, and we especially encourage our NYC-based audience to join.
