May 2025 Teach-In on Palestine with Kafia Haile

Kafia Haile is a strategist who uses visual storytelling and education to change U.S. foreign policy. She began her career as a tribes and culture analyst at the Pentagon. In 2008, she was based in Iraq as an expert on reconciliation by integrating former insurgents into the political process. Upon returning to the U.S., Kafia incorporated the arts into her work to broaden her impact. She placed in the top 2% of the Nicholl Screenwriting Competition (2015), administered by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She is the writer of MR. HALL’S INTERVIEW, described in Fortune as a short film “everyone who works should see." Participant named her a semifinalist in Works for Progress for TV pilots that inspire social change. In addition, Kafia's artwork is featured in exhibits confronting human rights abuses.

Kafia has served on the faculty of Tufts University and Clayton State University, teaching courses in Black Feminism and Filmmaking for Social Change. She is featured in interviews with USA Today, The Intercept, Mondoweiss, and Al Arabiya TV. Kafia is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Spelman College. She earned her Masters Degrees from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, where she was a Joan Gillespie Fellow, and was awarded her MFA with distinction from University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
