When Israel Breaks Your Heart, with Breaking the Silence

This moment is full of profound pain and complexity. Devastation in Gaza continues to unfold with heartbreaking consequences for so many innocent people while hostages remain in captivity.

Many of us have looked to Israel as a beacon of justice and hope, a place that reflects our deepest moral values. And yet, today, we are forced to confront painful truths, ones that are difficult to hear and even harder to hold.

We invite you to join T’ruah for a briefing and conversation with Nadav Weiman, Executive Director of Breaking the Silence, who will help us make sense of this moment.

Join us on May 27, 2025 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET. Register here.

As a former IDF combat soldier and a leader in the movement for truth-telling and human rights in Israel, Nadav brings deep insight into the current military and political landscape. Together, we will explore what it means to understand the terrible realities in Gaza while holding fast to our love for Israel, our hope for peace, and our commitment to human dignity.

This will not be an easy conversation, but it will be a caring and loving one. Join us as we sit with complexity and honor our tradition which calls us to bear witness even when it hurts.

P.S. For our chaverim, T’ruah’s rabbi and cantor members, there will be an extra half hour gathering following the webinar from 3:00-3:30 p.m. ET for discussion, processing, and strategizing.
