From the Puritan Pilgrims' first settlement, they interpreted their life in this country through the lens of the Bible – the ‘New Israel.’  This has become a secular civil creed that uses biblical language and symbols, the heart of American exceptionalism and manifest destiny, now projected onto Israel and its special relationship to the US. 

     American exceptionalism, Israeli exceptionalism, America’s manifest destiny, Israel’s manifest destiny – ONE!  Michael traces this history from the nation’s earliest days to the present.
