We invite you to join our upcoming webinar “The Global Burden of Genocide: Medical Frontlines in Congo, Sudan, and Palestine” which will address urgent health crises in regions facing famine, displacement, and systemic violence.

This session will include critical medical guidance on:

Starvation, refeeding syndrome and breastfeeding in famine conditions and sexual violence in Congo.

We will also hear from frontline voices:

  • Dr. Ibrahim Bani is a global health expert and public health physician with extensive experience in humanitarian response, health policy, and nutrition. He has served as an international health observer, consultant to the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, and advisor to the UN Oil-for-Food Program in Iraq. A teacher and researcher in both the Middle East and the U.S., he holds an MD from Khartoum University, a PhD in Nutrition (UK), a Fellowship from the Faculty of Public Health (UK), a Diploma from the Royal College of Physicians, and a Fellowship in Health Policy and Management from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

  • Dr. Abdul Qader Ismail is a senior paediatric registrar with a special interest in neonatal medicine and an NIHR-funded PhD researcher on the OptiPrem study. He leads a European research collaboration developing a 3D computer model of obstetric forceps and the newborn head, and teaches as an instructor on the Resuscitation Council UK Newborn Life Support course.

  • Dr. Huda Mahmoud (MBChB, FRCP, PhD) is an Iraqi-Palestinian nephrology and general internal medicine physician, specialising in cardio-renal and palliative-renal care, and serves as a BMA Consultants Committee representative. A proud Brummie and proprietor of an eclectic apparel brand, she is co-founder of Pre-Hospital AID, a think tank developing survival packs for civilians in crisis zones, and acting chair of Global Health BDS for Palestine, a diverse network of healthcare workers advocating for Palestinian rights and against censorship in healthcare.

  • Gaza Infant Nutrition Alliance (GINA) is dedicated to protecting and nourishing the most vulnerable by ensuring infants in Gaza have access to safe, life-sustaining nutrition. Through mother-to-mother support, evidence-based guidance, and emergency aid, GINA empowers mothers, combats malnutrition, and gives newborns the best chance to thrive.

  • Hadija, representing Agissons Ensemble, a collective of Goma youth volunteers providing emergency relief and long-term support to displaced and disadvantaged communities in North Kivu Province, DRC.

  • Elvis Katoto, an award-winning Congolese-British film director and photojournalist, and founder of UbuntuDRC, which supports women and girls who are survivors of sexual war crimes, as well as other vulnerable members of the Goma community.

This is an opportunity to learn, connect, and mobilize around medical, humanitarian, and advocacy priorities in the face of ongoing atrocities.

URGENT CALL TO ACTION
Dismantle the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation: Aid Must Not Be a Tool of Genocide

What’s unfolding in Gaza is state-engineered violence disguised as aid.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), backed by the U.S. and Israel, has turned food distribution into a death trap. Civilians are being shot while trying to collect survival rations in fenced, militarized zones. Over 500 killed and thousands wounded since May.

This is genocide by starvation and trauma and the U.S. just committed $30 million to fund it.

Doctors are sounding the alarm. This is cruel and collective punishment.
