Broad coalition of Boston-area Rabbis and Jewish organizations to hold Passover-themed “Freedom for All Rally” at City Hall Plaza Thursday at 6pm; speakers will address ICE abductions, antisemitism, Gaza war, and attacks on civil liberties
Prominent rabbis and Jewish community leaders, some with diverging views on the war in Gaza, will make a united call for the release of Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk and protest Trump’s repression of civil liberties.
Boston, MA — This Thursday, April 17 at 6pm, Boston-area Rabbis and Jewish leaders affiliated with more than 10 co-sponsoring synagogues and organizations will hold a “Seder in the Streets” rally. Drawing on the traditions of Passover– including song and ritual– participants will express unified opposition to the Trump administration’s authoritarian agenda, including its use of antisemitism as a tool to attack civil liberties. This broad coalition of Jewish organizations will demand that the Trump administration release all students abducted by ICE, including Rumeysa Ozturk and Mahmoud Khalil.
WHAT: Speakers including Rabbi Andy Vogel of Temple Sinai, Rabbi Leora Abelson of Nehar Shalom Community Synagogue, and Rabbi Rebecca Hornstein of Boston Workers Circle will address hundreds of Jews and allies singing and engaging in Jewish ritual in protest against authoritarianism and to call for the release of Trump’s political prisoners. Signs and banners will read “JEWS SAY NO TO DEPORTATIONS” “SAFETY IN SOLIDARITY, NOT AUTHORITARIANS” and “JEWISH AND PALESTINIAN SAFETY ARE INTERTWINED”
