About the Webinar

President Donald Trump recently announced his plan for the Gaza Strip, which would include the displacement of the Palestinian population and some form of American “ownership” of Gaza. The call for displacement, repeated in a meeting with the Jordanian King in the White House, echoed the long-standing dreams for far-right elements in Israel and would have massive consequences for the region if implemented.

As the cease-fire and exchange deal near a crucial moment between a first and second phase, Arab Center Washington DC and the Institute for Middle East Studies at George Washington University bring together a panel of experts to discuss the implications of the White House’s plan for Gaza and how it will affect the region. This webinar panel will seek to address numerous questions, including: What is the likelihood of the plan moving forward? What resistance will it meet if it does from Palestinians as well as other countries throughout the region? How do neighboring states view this issue and what are the implications for them? What is the broader role of regional actors in this moment? What is the position of the Arab League regarding these pronouncements from President Trump? What would pursuing this policy mean for American interests and relations in the region and around the world?
