3/30 (Zoom) 2pm - Palestinian-Jewish Co-Resistance to Ethnic Cleansing in Masafer Yatta (JVP DC Metro)

March 30, 2:00 PM EDT - Zoom

Palestinian-Jewish Co-Resistance to Ethnic Cleansing in Masafer Yatta

Join JVP-DC Metro virtually on Sunday, March 30th to hear from a panel of three delegates from the Center for Jewish Nonviolence as they share their meaningful experiences of participating in Palestinian-led nonviolent civil resistance to occupation, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing in Masafer Yatta. They will also uplift ways to support the residents of Masafer Yatta as they continue to face and fight violent displacement from the Israeli government and settlers daily. The recent Oscar win for the documentary “No Other Land” has made Masafer Yatta a household name, and it is critical that we keep the momentum for its residents as they struggle to protect their lives and their livelihoods.

Two volunteers both spent three months doing sustained solidarity and co-resistance work in Masafer Yatta as part of CJNV’s Hineinu program. One supported the Olive Harvest delegation as an on-the-ground organizer. Another engaged in protective presence activism in East Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley, as well as Masafer Yatta. A third volunteer spent three weeks in Burin for the Olive Harvest and 10 days doing protective presence shifts in Masafer Yatta during the summer.

Introducing the three delegates will be CJNV’s Communications Director, who will also tell us more about the Center’s history and mission. He previously served on JVP DC Metro’s Steering Committee, worked for Jews United for Justice, and helped found Washington, DC’s New Synagogue
Project. The speakers’ presentations will be followed by a Q&A with the audience.
