A Conversation with Dr. Rupa Marya: What the anti-colonial struggle looks like from the US and Ireland

We are pleased to announce that Rupa Marya will be our next guest speaker this coming Thursday, 6th February.

A professor of medicine, Dr. Rupa Marya has written extensively on the health impacts of systemic oppression, and is no stranger herself to oppression, facing hostility, exclusion and silencing for her integrity, courage and commitment to the cause of justice and liberation.

Dr. Rupa Marya is not only a physician, she is an activist, writer, mother, and a composer. She is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and a co-founder of the Do No Harm Coalition.

Her work sits at the nexus of climate, health and racial justice. She is the co-author with Raj Patel of the book Inflamed: Deep Medicine and the Anatomy of Injustice.

Rupa has toured twenty-nine countries with her band, Rupa and the April Fishes, whose music was described by the legend Gil Scott-Heron as “Liberation Music.”

Join us for this very special Zoom meeting with Dr. Rupa Marya as we discuss the anti-colonial struggle here in Ireland and in the U.S.
