A writing workshop led by Mx. Yaffa focused on building hope and envisioning a utopia centering collective liberation.

Poets for Palestine is partnering with Mx. Yaffa to host a series of events, diving into utopic thinking, writing as resistance, intersectionality, and community building. How do we move towards utopia? How do we leverage our art to achieve collective liberation? This is the first of three events, and it will be a virtual writing workshop hosted by Mx. Yaffa. It is open to anyone regardless of location! For those local to the so-called "Denver, CO" area, there will be a community open mic night on February 21st as an opportunity to share your writing from this workshop!
This event will be hosted in English on Zoom, where there will be an option to use closed captions. Participants should have access to a means to write, whether that be paper and pen, a journal, a phone note, a tablet, or a laptop.
Tickets are sliding scale, but if cost remains a barrier, please reach out to poetsforfalasteen@gmail.com for more discounted or free options. Money should not determine access to events! The ticket revenues will be given to Yaffa's queer and trans mutual aid fund.
Tier 1 - FREE - Anyone who wants access to workshop and cannot afford to donate. Please take the skills and give back to your community in the ways that you are able!
Tier 2 - $15.00 - For folks who are most impacted by systems of oppression and need a discounted ticket (QTBIPOC folks)!
Tier 3 - $25.00 - This is the base price for the workshop!
Tier 4 - $35.00 - For folks in a more comfortable financial situation with some wiggle room who want to make an extra donation!
Tier 5 - $50.00 - Those with the means to pay for their own spot and sponsor someone else's attendance!

We highly encourage participants to engage with some of Yaffa's writing prior to the workshop. They currently have four books published: Blood Orange, Desecrated Poppies, Inara, and Whispers Beneath the Orange Grove. These books are sold in the so-called "Denver" area by the Poets for Palestine team, and are also stocked in the Shop at MATTER. You can also order them online (PLEASE try to support anyone but Amazon), or if cost is a barrier, reach out to us for a digital copy.
