Ask Me Anything "Middle East" with Dr. Mohamed Abdou

As the political landscape shifts rapidly across the “Middle East,” join us for a monthly AMA (ask me anything) with Dr. Mohamed Abdou, hosted by Saira Rao & Here4TheKids. On the first Tuesday of each month, bring your questions to the session, or come by just to listen.

About Dr. Mohamed Abdou: North-African Egyptian scholar-organizer Professor Mohamed Abdou is a seasoned expert and analyst in Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African politics. Author of Islam and Anarchism (2022), his geopolitical analysis is rooted in both his expansive research on race, religion, and social movements transnationally, as well as his on-the-ground experiences including organizing with the post-Seattle 1999 anti-globalization movements, the Indigenous Zapatistas movement in Chiapas, the land back struggles with the Tyendinaga Mohawks (and the sister territories of Kahnawake, Akwesasne, and Kanehsatake, during the standoff over the Culbertson tract) as well as the anti-war protests of Iraq and Afghanistan and Tahrir Square during the “Arab Spring.”

Mohamed has taught at Columbia University, Cornell, Queen’s and Toronto University as well as the American University of Cairo, and is an interdisciplinary scholar of Indigenous, Black, critical race, and Islamic studies, as well as anti-racist feminist, gender, sexuality, women, decolonial and post-colonial studies. You can connect with Mohamed on twitter (@minuetinGmajor), Instagram (@slightlydrifting), or via his website (https://www.mabdou.net/).
