The National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) will be holding their first Policy Update Call on Friday, February 28th at 3pm EST.
To join us, please register here: https://bit.ly/PolicyUpdateCall.
These calls are open to the community and all are welcome to join to learn more about these administrative changes (see more information below) and ask our Federal Policy Team any questions you might have.
More information: The NNAAC has continued tracking and analyzing new executive actions that will likely impact our communities. Our latest updates include multiple educational executive actions which have eliminated critical grant money meant for research, development, and technical assistance activities as well as training on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
In addition to executive actions, we are also closely monitoring The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act) which is expected to be introduced in the House of Representatives during late February or early March 2025. The SAVE Act would require voters to provide documentary evidence of their citizenship, such as passports or birth certificates with a matching name. However, most state IDs or drivers’ licenses would not be accepted. If passed, this bill could remove millions of Americans from state voter rolls, particularly those without a passport or birth certificate. Additionally, it would likely disenfranchise millions of women whose names have changed due to marriage or other reasons.
To learn more about these changes, please head to our website where we have developed a summary of these executive orders and policy changes with their status and potential impact on our communities.
