The devastating conditions in places like Haiti, Sudan, and Palestine today should be contextualized within the demographic, environmental, and metaphysical catastrophes that took place in the context of the so-called discovery of the New World and the first European settlement in the heart of the Caribbean region in the late 15th century. This presentation will focus on the relevance of Caribbeanity to understand the Palestinian Nakba, the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and the damnation and possibilities for decolonization.
