Annemarie Jacir's award-winning “Salt of this Sea” tells the story of an American-born Palestinian woman who returns to Palestine to recover her grandfather’s bank account. She eventually embarks on a wider journey to reclaim aspects of Palestinian livelihood that the occupation has so desperately tried to steal: love, personal identity, and the right to self-determination. The film not only captures the struggle of reclaiming stolen inheritance, but a sense of belonging for Palestinians, whether in the diaspora or under occupation.
