The Red Letter Christian community is dedicated to coming together on the first of every month to center ourselves on Christ through prayer. Striving to build God’s Beloved Community here in our time is tough work, but we use this time to refuel and recommit to living into God’s plan for our lives. We welcome guests and co-conspiring organizations to join us for this time of reflection and centering to share news of their work, reflect on the political moment of our world, or guide us in prayer alongside Shane Claiborne and Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove and folks join us in a virtual meeting or via live-stream.
This month’s guest is the Rev. Dr. Alexia Salvatierra, a professor at Fuller Theological Seminary and academic dean for Centro Latino, where she coordinates the Diplomado en la Respuesta de la Iglesia a la Crisis Migratoria. A Lutheran pastor and community leader, she has pastored congregations, served as a missionary, and directed numerous nonprofit organizations. She is the co-founder of initiatives like the New Sanctuary Movement and the Evangelical Immigration Table and has contributed to various academic publications. Alexia’s work focuses on social transformation, the church’s role in justice, and equipping churches to engage in holistic mission, particularly with Hispanic immigrant communities.
