Mohammed and Majed will be sharing what is happening on the ground in the West Bank, and what PHF is doing to continue to support the children and families of Nablus and the surrounding area.  What is happening is horrific, and yet Mohammed and Majed are hopeful, and you will be no doubt inspired to continue to be hopeful and take action.  PHF’s top priority is education and psychological support for children who must continue learning and as Mohammed says, “taste happiness.”  They have distributed more than 100 school bags filled with books, pencils and pens, and crayons for elementary school children and are doing everything they can in the face of relentless attacks.

Here is a snapshot of what Palestinians on the West Bank are facing:

• There are thousands of military checkpoints set up in Nablus; to travel to Asira, Mohammed’s home village, 7 miles from Nablus, it can take 6 hours;

• The latest threat reported from Smotrich, Israel’s minister of finance, will allow for Israel to deport all Palestinians who have ever held Jordanian passports (everyone who was alive between 1948-1967 has held one, and many people get temporary Jordanian passports to travel abroad);

• Schools in Nablus are closed because it is too dangerous to venture out. The Israeli army is patrolling the streets, evacuating families from their homes, randomly shooting and killing civilians, and kidnapping people.  

• During this harvest season, settlers have been uprooting and burning thousands of olive trees, which has a devastating effect on Palestinians’ ability to make a living.

Both Mohammed and Majed send love and gratitude to all of you, and say “without you we would be able to do nothing. The more you give, the more we can do to help those struggling and suffering.”  Through its extensive volunteer operation, PHF has been delivering Boxes of Love, full of necessities (food and blankets and children's educational materials) across Nablus.
