10/16 (Online) 3am - On Revolution - in Palestine, Syria and Beyond? (Jewish Council of Australia)

After 737 days of unrelenting bombardment and a death toll that has stolen tens of thousands of Palestinian lives, the ceasefire that has just begun offers a desperately needed reprieve. The killing has, for now, stopped. In this critical moment, we’re coming together to build community, solidarity and work for justice and equality for all.

Can you join me this Thursday, October 16, for a conversation titled: On Revolution – in Palestine, Syria and Beyond? (3AM EDT - 6PM AEDT).

This critical conversation will weave together the stories of Holocaust survivors, Syrian activists and Palestinian poets. Together, Dr Samah Sabawi, Louna Ghawi and Dr Marika Sosnowski will explore what it means to fight for freedom, justice and dignity — and the revolutionary acts carried out by “ordinary” people in extraordinary times.

One meaningful thing I’ve found over these past two years, is the incredible community we’ve built together, as we’ve come together to deepen our understanding of our history, culture and share a commitment to a better future.

That's why I'm writing to invite you to our event, because even as hope flickers, our responsibility is clear: to reflect, to speak, to act. Because justice for Palestinians is not just political — it is moral. And it is deeply Jewish.

As a Jewish organisation, our histories teach us that true safety is never found in walls or weapons, but in shared liberation. This ceasefire is not an end point; it is a moment to deepen our commitment. Creating spaces for these conversations is not just political — it is moral. And it is deeply Jewish.

In this moment of fragile hope and profound uncertainty, let's come together to focus on what truly matters: the human spirit and the relentless pursuit of justice. I hope to see you on Thursday night, so grab your tickets for On Revolution – in Palestine, Syria and Beyond.

In solidarity,

Sarah Schwartz, Jewish Council of Australia
