Experience one of the oldest living musical traditions of Borikén (Puerto Rico). Bomba evolved as a powerful form of expression and resistance by Indigenous Taino and West African peoples during Spanish rule and beyond.

Oct. 11, 10:30-11:30 am FALMOUTH, MA Book Event: Wôpanâak Seasons - Carrie Anne Vanderhoop will give a family friendly talk about her new picture book, “Wôpanâak Seasons”. Through lyrical prose and vibrant illustrations, the story follows a young Wampanoag child on a seasonal journey through Aquinnah, on Noepe (Martha’s Vineyard).

October 11, 10-5 pm, NEWBURYPORT, MA - Indigenous Peoples Day Observance - A free, family friendly outdoor gathering to celebrate traditional and contemporary Indigenous cultures, arts, and diversity. Highlights include the creation, ceremonial launch, and paddle of a traditional hand crafted muhsh8n (dugout canoe) made by Darius Coombs and Jonathan James Perry and an ákʷitən (birch bark canoe) made by Jason Pardilla.
