Virtual Monthly Meet-up with Mazin & Jessie Qumsiyeh re: the Palestine Institue for Biodiversity & Sustainability (PIBS) & the Palestine Museum of Natural History (PMNH)

Warm end-of-summer greetings from the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) and the Palestine Museum of Natural History (PMNH)!
We are pleased to invite you to our 62nd monthly virtual meetup on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Full details, including the time and Zoom link, are provided below.
If this is your first invitation, you may like to know that we have been holding these monthly meetups on the first Saturday of each month since July 2020, initially in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each session includes:
A review of our activities at PIBS during the previous month
A discussion of challenges we are facing
All sessions are recorded and archived online, making them accessible if you cannot join live.
Since October 7, 2023, the second hour has been dedicated to updates from Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh on the ongoing situation in Gaza. Some of these briefings are also available in our archive.
Despite the overwhelming shadow of the continuing genocide in Gaza, we remain committed to PIBS’s four pillars of work: Research, Education, Conservation, and Community Services.
We are especially grateful for the extraordinary response to our Donation-Matching Campaign, launched on July 7, 2025. As of today, 174 friends have contributed generously (95 first-time donors). Tributes were made in memory of Rachel Corrie, Marguerite Rosenthal, and Evelyn L. Minchen; in celebration of marriages; and in honor of Dr. Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian and Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh, as well as in appreciation of our newsletters and mission. Your solidarity moves us deeply.
We also salute all who are risking—and will risk—arrest this weekend at events worldwide calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza. We are honored to share this struggle with you and warmly welcome you to join us this Saturday.
