1/15 (in person, Portland ME) 4:30pm - Silent Protest and Vigil at the "Sushi Girls" reception at the Maine Jewish Museum

🕯️ SILENT PROTEST AND VIGIL 🕯️

Maine Voices For Palestinian Rights and the Maine Coalition for Palestine will gather in front of the Maine Jewish Museum for a silent standout and vigil in mournful protest of the museum’s artist talk and sushi reception, called “Sushi Girls”, featuring photographs of an Japanese women feeding IDF soldiers during the current genocide.

Where: Maine Jewish Museum, 267 Congress Street, Portland (at the top of India Street)

When: Wednesday, January 15, 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Our protest will be silent, non-confrontational, and will hopefully open some hearts and minds to the suffering of Palestinians.

We hope to see you there.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

We need to hold up a mirror -- in words and with our presence --to the Maine Jewish Museum and its patrons, some of whose ancestors might well have been victims of the Holocaust.

Letters of shock and dismay have been sent to the Executive Director of the museum from around Maine and the country.

Here is an example, written by Maine activist Lisa Savage:
