Letters of Gratitude
It's back to letter writing time, but this time we're actually focusing on a little moment of celebrations. Of course it is little, as the atrocities are still persisting. Recently Portland City Council of Portland Maine unanimously passed a divestment bill. Portland is the 4th city in the US to pass such a bill and the first for the entire east coast. The hope is that this can be an example for others.
In the spirit of wanting to support the council members in their decision and hope to inspire other locations this months letter writing campaign will focus on thanking the members of the city council for voting in favor of the divestment.
Of course anyone who attends is welcome to write on whatever they feel is important, and there are definitely still important fights out there. Hopefully we can also enjoy a tiny moment of celebration to keep us going in the fight.
The campaign will meet at Rice Public Library in "Maker's Space Room" on Saturday 9/28 from 10:30am - 1:30pm. Feel free to come and go with in that time frame.
