‘The Night Won’t End: Biden’s War on Gaza’
Despite the massive loss of lives and numerous allegations of human rights violations the United States has not wavered in its support of Israel. The WILPF US Middle East Peace & Justice Action Committee invites us all to gather together to watch this documentary and consider ways we can stand in solidarity to demand an end to our Government’s complicity.
From air strikes to field executions, Fault Lines and Al Jazeera investigate the killings of civilians by the Israeli military and the role of the United States in the war. We hear directly from family member and others about the loss of loved ones and colleagues. We’re pleased that Sharif Abdel Kouddous, the correspondent for “the Night Won’t End” will be with us. He is an independent print and television journalist based in New York and Cairo. He has reported from across the Arab world, including Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Bahrain, and Algeria, as well from across the United States and internationally. He received a George Polk Award for his investigation into the killing of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, an Emmy award for his coverage of the Trump administration’s Muslim travel ban, and an Izzy Award for his coverage of the 2011 Egyptian revolution.
We’ll also hear from Dr. Hanan.A.Awwad, President and founder of the Palestine section of WILPF and currently serving on WILPF’s Board. Hanan also founded the Union of Palestinian Writers, the Palestinian Union of Journalists, and the PEN Center for Palestinian Writers (a section of PEN International). She served as the cultural advisor for Yasser Arafat from 1998 to 2004 and has represented Palestine in more than 700 international congress and conferences in politics, literature and human rights.
