Weekly Protest in Union Square with Israelis for Peace NYC, Friends of the Parent’s Circle and more
Please join us at our next protest to hear words from bereaved parents and children who have devoted their lives to peace and reconciliation in their attempt to make sure others don’t experience what they have. We are honored to have them.
@yonatanzeigen grew up in Kibbutz Be’eri. A social worker with a B.A in law, M.A in clinical social work and trained mediator. Father of three based in Tel-Aviv Jaffa. Yonatan was a peace activist in his early twenties and then fell into a “political coma”. After losing his mother, Vivian Silver (renowned peace activist) in the October 7 th attack and being heartbroken from the war in general he decided to dedicate himself to peace and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.
Layla Alshekh lives in Bethlehem in the West Bank. In 2002, her 6 months old son, Qussay, became ill and Israeli soldiers prevented Layla from taking him to the hospital for more than five hours. Qussay soon died from the lack of timely treatment.
Laila joined the Parents Circle in 2016. Following her son’s death, she never thought of revenge, but rather has devoted her time and energy to ensuring a better, more peaceful future for her children.
@robidamelin , spokesperson and director of International Relations for the Parents Circle - Families Forum joined the organization after her son was killed by a Palestinian Sniper. All her work on the ground in Palestine, Israel, and internationally is geared towards non-violence and reconciliation as a means to end the occupation. Robi was named as a 2015 Woman of Impact by Women in the World.
