As the 23rd anniversary of 9/11 approaches, CAIR urges students across the state to remain vigilant and mindful of the ongoing challenges that Muslim and Arab communities continue to face. In the wake of increased incidents of Islamophobia and hate bias incidents, it is crucial for students to report any instances of discrimination or harassment. Reporting these incidents enables CAIR to advocate for them and help foster an environment of mutual respect and understanding in their schools and communities. This anniversary serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of standing against prejudice and ensuring that the rights and dignity of all students are upheld.
“Ensuring that our students are equipped with the knowledge of their rights and the tools to navigate challenges in public education is crucial for their safety and success” said CAIR’s Maryland Outreach Coordinator Kimberly Syuardi. “As our communities grapple with racism, bullying and discrimination, this training will help empower students and their families to know their rights and stand up for themselves. It’s vital that every student feels safe and valued in their educational journey.”
CAIR remains committed to protecting the rights of students and ensuring that they have access to a safe and equitable education. We encourage all members of the community to join this important training session.
CAIR’s mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
