The Uniting Knowledge, Resources and Solidarity: Gaza Health Initiative Conference in Amsterdam aims to rebuild the health sector in Gaza.
By KIT - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
KIT Institute is partnering with the Gaza Health Initiative (GHI) Gaza Health Initiative (rebuildinggazahealth.org) to host the ‘Uniting Knowledge Resources and Solidarity: Gaza Health Initiative Conference’ on 13 September 2024, in Amsterdam.
The unprecedented destruction of the Gaza Strip since 7 October has left no fully functioning hospitals in the region. An estimated 700 healthcare and aid workers have lost their lives. Medical facilities lack personnel, beds, medicine, equipment, and electricity.
There is an urgent need to rebuild basic health services to prevent further loss of life.GHI, our co-host, is a coalition of medical professionals, non-profit organisations, humanitarian actors, academics, and concerned individuals. They hosted the first conference in Amman in February and the second in Beirut in June.
The one-day conference at KIT will be the third in the series, and we aim to build on the achievements of the previous conferences.
• Accompanying indigenous Palestinian knowledge and power for the development and recovery of the Gaza healthcare system.
• Enabling financial and technical partners to pledge their support towards identified health priorities.
• Catalysing global citizen solidarity for the long-term healthcare needs of Gaza.
Online participation - Tickets for online participation are available as a separate option.
“ Many organisations in Europe feel an urge to show solidarity with the people in Gaza and to support the health system recovery with knowledge and resources. The conference will convene donors, international and local NGOs, humanitarian and development organisations, and multilateral institutions to identify priorities, build bridges, and make pledges for Gazan recovery and development. ”Irene De Vries, Maternal and Newborn Health Expert and Co-Chair of the Organising Committee
