This event has been organised by the anti-racist social work collective. We are a collective of fierce, intelligent, skilled, and experienced Social Workers united by the aspiration to challenge the status quo of Australian Social Work knowledges and oppressive racial and colonial structures. We come from different worlds and different spaces. We are sovereign First Nations peoples, the global majority and allies who are working together to establish a space for collaboration, support, and resistance. Our collective is committed to social justice, human rights and sovereignty for First Nations people and people of Colour across the world. We come together to amplify the voices of the communities we work with and the values of our cultures and ancestors to decolonise Social Work and fight for justice.
About this Event
The Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (TRC) is a non-governmental, nonprofit organisation that provides comprehensive psychosocial services to survivors of torture and organised violence in the West Bank in the Palestinian Territories.
TRC works to reduce the traumatic and devastating physical and psychological consequences of torture and organised violence and reduce retaliatory acts by offering victims and their families comprehensive medical, physical, psychiatric, and psychological care completely free-of-charge in a safe and comfortable atmosphere.
TRC also works to prevent and combat torture, violence, and impunity through training, research, and advocacy.
The workshop will focus on ongoing trauma, mental health and working with forcibly displaced Palestinians in Australia.
The training will be delivered by the TRC team. All proceeds will be donated to TRC.
