8/20 (Zoom) 7pm - DNC Virtual Art Build + Discussion on Organizing with Cori Nakamura Lin & Tiffany Wong (18 Million Rising)

Tuesday, August 20, 7:00 PM EDT - Zoom

DNC Virtual Art Build

The Democratic National Convention is in Chicago the week of August 19, where Presidential candidate Kamala Harris will accept her nomination.

As people of conscience, working class, people of color across a spectrum of genders, we’re gathering during this week to fight for the rights and liberation of all oppressed peoples. We’re gathering to demand an end to the genocide of the Palestinian people; reparations for Black and brown people; end to U.S. military intervention and aid across the globe; no more deportations; and so much more.

Join our very first Virtual Art Build as we gather online, ground ourselves in our values and struggle for liberation, and create art to bring the people’s demands to the DNC.

Hear from Chicago-based artist-organizers Cori Nakamura Lin and Tiffany Wong on how art can mobilize organizing and how contributing to the movement can come in many forms. From the fight to end cash bail in Chicago to creating processing spaces for grief.

We’ll break out into smaller rooms where folks can chat about how they see arts and organizing; understand how to use Internet culture in art; process through writing; use materials at home to make signs, posters, etc; or use our Canva template to create graphics. There will be guides and tutorials to support artists of all levels.

Whether you consider yourself an artist or not, find movement and community online with 18MR!
