The framework and title of the event comes from “Regresso,” a poem by Amilcar Cabral. In the poem, Cabral characterizes the “rain” as a form of salvation justly delivering greenery to Cape Verde after years of brutalizing drought. That rain becomes the revolutionary spirit and character of change not only to the landscape, but the people.

As artists and writers, we must be the rain that beats against the door, echoing a call for revolutionary fervor. We must—through creative intervention—use every tool in our arsenal to advance the struggle until liberation and return!
