DC: CAIR, ADC to Designate Top Three Universities Targeting Anti-Genocide Student Protesters as ‘Institutions of Particular Concern’
On Wednesday, August 14 at 11 a.m. ET, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) will designate three universities as “institutions of particular concern” following their targeting of anti-genocide student protesters at a press conference in Washington, D.C. Palestine Legal will present remarks at the conference.
The announcement comes as students prepare to return to school months after university administrators across the country created a hostile campus environment for Palestinian, Muslim, Arab, Jewish and other students, staff, and faculty opposing the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza. The three designated universities are where students and affiliates are most likely to experience viewpoint discrimination due to their support for Palestinian rights.

In May, CAIR released ‘Hostile’: How Universities Target Anti-Genocide Protesters While Enabling Anti-Palestinian Racism and Islamophobia.”
The report notes two key trends: (1) how many universities have enabled external actors, as well as their own students and faculty, to attack Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim students with little, if any, repercussions and (2) how many university administrators have themselves used disciplinary action and police violence to silence anti-genocide protesters on their campus.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
ADC is a civil rights organization committed to defending the rights of people of Arab descent and promoting their rich cultural heritage.
Palestine Legal’s mission is to bolster the Palestine solidarity movement by challenging efforts to threaten, harass and legally bully activists into silence and inaction.
