Biden's Out: Regroup to Defeat MAGA: a mass call for white people

About this event - Biden has officially dropped out as the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party. The hot takes are flying, and everyone is bringing a range of emotions into this moment– fear, relief, dread, overwhelm. Join SURJ to come together to hold all those emotions- and to discuss the important role and responsibility that white people have right now.
In the midst of what has already been a chaotic and violent year, we have to keep our eyes on the prize: keeping the MAGA movement from gaining more power in the federal government. We are clear that advancing anything our movements for change care about– climate, housing, racial justice, worker’s rights, abortion protection and more– will be nearly impossible under an authoritarian government.
We also know that with Kamala Harris as the new nominee, the far right will use race and gender ruthlessly in their strategy to win over white voters. As white people, it’s on us to take up the responsibility of moving other white people away from the racism of the MAGA movement.
Join us tomorrow to connect with like-minded folks, get grounded in an analysis of this moment, and join SURJ’s work to stop MAGA and build the power of our movements to deliver change for the long haul.
