All God’s Children March for a Ceasefire - Daily March + Evening programs
It has been nearly eight months since the horrific attacks on October 7 led to Israel’s massive military response targeting the occupied Palestinian people, and seven months since we began Mennonite Action together to advocate for peace in the face of these continued cycles of violence and oppression.
Our hearts remain heavy. Israeli attacks in Gaza continue to wreak devastation. US dollars and US-made munitions continue to fund the killing of tens of thousands of Palestinians.
This march will begin early in the morning on Thursday, July 18 in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It will continue for 11 days, averaging 13 miles per day, until arriving in Washington, DC on Sunday July 28 - in term for the interfaith mobilization opposing CUFI.
Marchers will carry signs and banners calling on President Biden to follow a theology of peace and liberation, not extremist views of genocide and occupation. We will sing, pray, and walk in prayerful silence. Some of us will march for one morning, some of us will march for one day, some of us will march for all 10 days.
On Sunday, July 28, we will conduct a final, short march into DC, and invite our coalition allies to join us for this portion of the march.
This toolkit will be updated with parking locations and site locations for each day of the march, so participants can head to those locations to join for the day or for evening programming. Information for marchers traveling with a group or traveling individually can be found here.
Mennonite Action encourages those who are joining the march from Day 1 in Harrisonburg to find overnight accommodations in Harrisonburg on Wednesday night. If needed, Mennonite Action will support marchers to be placed with a host family the night before the march. You can indicate your Wednesday night plans in the march registration form.
